CURRICULUM VITAE
RAMI LASMAN
I was educated and lived in Montreal until 1998.
During that year, I moved to Victoria, B.C., and enjoyed the
beautiful scenery of the Canadian West. Some of this scenery I
have tried to incorporate into my landscape paintings. In 2001,
I moved back East to Toronto.
In 1990 I changed my profession from teaching to
painting. I began with pencil and ink drawings,continued with
watercolors and finally graduated to oil paintings.
In 1991, I began my art studies with Giuseppe Di
Leo at Concordia University in Montreal. Later on, I followed
courses with Judith Schwartz and Michel Daigneault at York
University. In 2002, I took courses with Chinkok Tan at O.C.A.D
in Toronto.
I received my B.F.A degree Major in Art History
and Studio Art from Concordia University on November the7th,
2003.
SOLO EXHIBITIONS:
In November 2002, I exhibited at the Don Mills
Branch of the Toronto Public Library.
In March 2003 in the East Room of the WAGNER
ROSENBAUM GALLERY, I exhibited 33 of my works.
In April and May 2003, I exhibited at the
Brookbanks Branch of the Toronto Public Library.
In September 2003, I exhibited at the YORKVILLE
Branch of the Toronto Public Library.
In April and May 2004, at the CANTINE RSTAURANT,
located on Avenue Rd., I exhibited 20 of my works.
In March , April and Dec. 2005, at the MASHU
MASHU RESTAURANT, located on 387 Spadina Rd., I exhibited a few
of my works.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 at the JUDAICA GIFT
CENTRE, located on 531 Atkinson Ave., Thornhill, I have a few of
my works displayed for sale.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, at ARMAND'S GALLERY, located on 3021
Bathurst St., Toronto, I have a few of my paintings displayed
for sale.
In April, 2008, at the Rainbow Cinemas, located at 80 Front St.,
East, Toronto, I have a few of my paintings displayed for sale.
JURIED EXHIBITIONS:
The City of Vaughan, juried by Shawna White, Assistant Curator
at McMichael's Gallery and Rocco Pannese, President of Kipling
Gallery in Woodbridge, has chosen my painting
Canadian Abstruct Landscape # 9
to be exhibited at the City Playhouse Theatre, located at 1000
New Westminister Drive, Thornhill,Ontario, from April 24 to
May25, 2008.
GROUP EXHIBITIONS:
In February 2003, in the Gallery of York
University, I exhibited four of my works.
In July 2003, in The Skylight Gallery, at the
Northern District Library, I exhibited two of my works.
In July and August 2003, in The Praxis Gallery,
I participated in the SUMMER HEAT exhibition with one of my
works.
In August 2004, in Shuk in the Park, I exhibited
twenty of my works.
In January 2005, in the Gallery of York
University, I exhibited one of my works.
In March 2005, in the KOLEL Center, located on
151 Eglinton Ave., West, I exhibited twenty-seven paintings.
In February 2006, in the Akasa Gallery of York
University, I exhibited one of my works.
In March 2006 and 2008, in the Visual Arts Studio of York
University, I exhibited a few of my paintings.
INTERVIEWS:
On March 27, 2005 I was interviewed by Duke
Redbird of City TV Pulse News.
ADVERTISING:
From September 2005 to September 2006 my
paintings are displayed on the front cover as well as one
painting inside the book ( pg. 259 ) titled: JEWISH PAGES. It is
the Jewish-Israeli Yellow Pages which are distributed throughout
the Greater Toronto Area.
In November, 2005 I published a book titled :
RAMI -- SYMPHONY OF COLOURS with 116 colour paintings and 87 pen
and ink drawings.
